Id have to say i was a little disappointed. I really expected more hops. It wasnt bad at all just not what i expected. It pours beautifully, though. The big plus? 11.26%, baby! abogjose (1), Oceanside, California, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Old Guardian is so strong yet so smooth it will make you feel like you got kicked in the nuts but yet still want to come back for more. Yes this is the brewage that is that good. Rynoplasty (507), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Pours a slightly cloudy amber with a medium sized cream colored head. Aroma is hoppy and slightly malty. Taste is smootha and it is very hard to tell that there is over 11 percent alcohol especially on the first drink, but it becomes more pronounced after a moment as well as the hoppy finish that pops up after a moment. Good but not quite enough hop flavor except in the finish. joekfsu (138), Boardman, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2008 22 oz bottle, 2008 edition. Pours a clear copper with 2 cm off-white head. Aroma of malt, apples, grapes, and alcohol. Flavor is spiked apple juice with a slight hint of hops on the backend. Finishes hoppy and alcoholic. Light lacing, light carbonation, medium body, strong alcohol presence. Drinkable, more so to say you have tried it than anything else. HughConway (367), Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2008 A bit mild as Barley Wines go, especially given the Stone reputation. Lighter in color and aroma, but still worth the time. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Bomber. Hazy bright orange color. Marmalade-like aromas of peach and/or pineapple, with some light caramel malt, piney hops and alcohol notes. Peach/apricot/pineapple flavors punctuate a light caramel body. Finishes with a piney hoppiness and some traces of alcohol. Light to medium body with fine carbonation. Another good example of an American BW done right. bierkoning (6023), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Bottle shared @ jbrus’s place. Aroma has mango, pineapple, red berries and citrus. Malty flavor with loads of earthy hops. Hints of pineapple and mango. A considerable dry out effect. The balance is lacking a bit.
