Bottled, 2006. Clear orange color, short head. Aroma of a typical barley wine, malty, slight caramel, fruity, candy sugar, very hoppy. Bitter taste, hops, quite straightforward.

Dark orange with a light head and lacing. Rich hop and malt aroma. Flavour is malt, hops, hops and spice. Delicious, chewy and yummy. Thick body.

Bottle from my Vermont trip. Pours a hazy orange color. Aroma is sweet malt with some fruit, and some very floral hops. Flavor is malty, sweet and a friggin perfect hops balance. Easily one of the best barley wines I have ever had. Wonderful. MMMMMMM.

Small white head. Hazy amber body. Papery caramelly malty straw aroma with alcoholic toffee notes. Dry straw, resin, and caramel taste with nutty notes. Fullish body. Some alcohol heat. Dry-hot cocoa and caramel aftertaste with resiny notes. Lots of alcohol. Probably why the notes were kind of hard to read. (0.65l bottle.)

In the bottle at my 2006 Barleywine tasting. This was the 2005 vintage. Pours reddish amber with a copious beige head. The head stays thinly coated over the entire surface of the beer. Just beautiful. Super big alcohol nose. Very dry and has a great balancing bitterness with the medium sweetness. The finishing hops remain on the tongue and it has a backup chocolate flavor.

Bottle at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Vintage 2007. Clear amber with a low white foam. Some alcohol and paint in the aroma with notes of grapefruit and caramel. Clean flavour of orange-peels, herbs, honey, caramel, fudge and grapefruit. Alcoholic finish wih a medium bitter finish of grapefruit. Felt a bit young but could be great in a couple of years.

Thanks to Brewfiend for carrying this back from Colorado. This beer does a great job of hiding its alcohol. It is very well hopped in the nose. Palate is on the thin side, but the flavor is hops and citrus, as well as some pine, all of which is no doubt from the hops.

Marked as "Limited early 2008 release". Long description on the back of the bottle. Pours like syrup. Aroma is hoppy and barely wine fruity with some alcohol. Off-white head that goes away after a little bit. Really good lacing. Murky pink-orange body. Exceptionally hoppy and strong barely wine (11.26%). Probably a bit too hoppy (certainly for the style, and probably too hoppy for me). Syrupy mouthfeel with light, pleasant carbonation. Very nice alcohol presence.
