2005. Pours a reddish orange color. Aroma is a little sweet and fairly malty. Some citric aroma is present. Flavor is quite hoppy. With a maltiness to mellow it out a little. Alcohol seems to be masked quite well as I can’t taste any. Bottle reads 11.26%. Very ready to drink.

Pours amber, beige head. Aroma is malty / caramel with light hop. Taste, just an amazing barley, plenty of sweetness (sugar), and nice caramel malts accompanied by nice fruit notes. Leaves a light toffe mouthfeel, with a small lingering bitter hop finish.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber with a thin off-white head. Very nice malty aroma with some sweetness and orange peel noted as well. The flavor, in a word, is luscious. Superbly well balanced malt and hops with caramel and cognac also in the background. Wonderful, full mouthfeel with just the right viscocity. I did not find this beer aggressive in the least and the alcohol was incredibly well hidden. This is a finely crafted barley wine.

ruby/copper pour with a thin off white/cream head. nose is citrusy hops, thick syrupy mats and fruit. very nice on the palate with a heavy caramel malt flavor that finishes with citrusy, bitter hops. very delicious barley wine though.

The smell is caramel, hops, florals, fruits, malts, alcohol, pine, and citrus. The look is clear, some sediment, and has a good nice off white head. The taste is florals. hops, pine, caramel, citrus, fruits, and a nice bitterness.

vintage 05 from a trade w/ Mike. the 05 is a 11.26% ABV not the 10.06 like on here. I hear the 04 & 05 are actually quite different. pours a nice copper color w/ a good white head made up of bigger bubbles laces pretty well. Smells of a big citrus hops first then a nice high malt backbone the palate is nice and creamy w/ some good carbonation and a good mouth feel. Flavor is a big malt & hop blend very well balaned a bit of a woody finish w/ a big warm chase of alcohol after the swallow w/ out being overpowering. Very good stuff.

07 release. light amber/orange in color with a small to medium off white head. Aroma is resiny citrus and caramel, hops very prevalent and almost in the front. Taste is heavy citrus and pine, pretty bitter up front and throughout the taste, with plenty of pale malt/caramel to back the hops. Alcohol is a bit biting in the finish, but the amount of hop bitterness and taste covers it a bit. Good for a really fresh barleywine.

22oz bottle-sampled with keith-pours dark orange hue with minimal white head-sweet, sugary malts and some piney hops in the aroma-nice sweet, toasty malts and piney hops-this has great aging potential. A little hot on the finish. This will only get better! 2005 bottle-this beer is fantastic! I think the 11.2 is covered well with the malt. I didn’t detect much alcohol at all in this one for such a big beer. Another winner from Stone!
