Head is slow to form but musters up to make a small white head that diminishes to an edge ring. Decent lacing. Big sweet malt nose. Caramel aromas. Smooth mouthfeel, medium to full bodied. Very malty up front with a decent hop finish. Caramel seems to predominate the initial flavors. Very drinkable for being bottled in August. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2006 Updated: Jul 25, 2006Early 2006 early release. Pours copper with a diminishing head. Malty aroma with notes of sugary dried fruit and caramel, but as it warms, the alcohol comes out in the aroma. Some earthy, tea, and caramel flavors that get squashed by the peppery hops. The finish is a tad hot and boozy. Nice mouthfeel though. This should get WAY better with age. I think this is too young. Good thing I bought two. pilsnerrogge (1783), Finspång, Sweden
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 27, 2009 2008 bottle: Pours dark, hazy amber with a mid sized, dense head. Toffee, malt and hop aroma. Flavour has notes of hazel nuts, sweet malt and maybe some liquorice but all the flavour are soon washed away by a big and aggresive bitterness. Not a beer for beginners. ryan (1776), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
