Aroma is a floral hop scent with some sweet malt back tones. Color is a hazy orange with light carbonation and a tight head. Taste is rich and hoppy. Starting with a full/medium body it goes down smooth with a gentle fizzy feel. Finish is sweet with a touch of malt and a bold hop flavor that builds to a citric taste. After taste rolls out of the citrus with a nice bitterness that fads and leaves you with a warm alcohol feel. This is a very good brew, its just a bit hoppier then I feel a Barley Wine should be, I think its more like a double or imperial IPA. This is not the first time I have had a hoppy Barley Wine and I really hope more breweries go back to brewing rich, sweet, malty ones and save the hops for good Pale Ales.

Bottle thanks to Bman1113VR. Orangey colored pour with a soapy green tinted head. Nose is boozey, raisins, dry malt, and fruity citrus hops. Nice nose. Medium to thick mouthfeel. Long pronounced finish that is fairly bitter. Taste is sweet dried fruits, dark candi sugar, and fruity citrus. Nice beer.

Pours a reddish orange with a fluffy head. Aroma is candy sugar, grapes, alcohol, sweet malt. Taste is pretty good for a barleywine. Sweet apples, port wine, brandy, spice, and very little alcohol. This is the only barleywine I’ve ever had that could be mistaken for an actual wine. Take that however you want.

04 Bottle. Orange amber with short lived head. Nose was dark fruits with sappy pine hops and caramel. Taste was the same, with alcohol lingering on the palate. Not as great as other stone offerings.

2007 bottle. Aroma of caramel, toffee, sweet malt, piney hops, and a little citrus. Pour is a dark red amber with a fairly large creamy caramel colored head. Flavors of caramel, bitter hops, grapefruit, and malt. Pretty damn bitter and a some alcohol comes through.

Amber syrup pour, lightly hazy with a thin head. Very floral, very fruity aroma with toasted cracker and caramel. Big body, warming alcohol, fruity flavor with a big bitter finish. Fairly straightforward but nice.

malty monster. grain alcohol comes through in the nose with much more dried grass aroma than the typical raw rubbing alcohol i usually notice in the style. beautiful bronze with a brilliant white head, small bubbles, full strong lacing. This is what a barleywine should taste like. instantly warming, long finish, caramel and bite. somewhat young and with a sneer, but lots of depth right off the shelf and it’s really hard to limit to a sip.
