Pours a cloudy copper with a medium white head. Aroma of malt, hops, and citrus. Tastes of hops with a nice bitterness and sweetness that balance each other out.
This could only get better with some age on it. Another winner from Stone. elihapa (1052), Honolulu, California, USA

Aroma is of blended malts, sweet raisin, milk chocolate and fruit. Flavor was an extremely mature and balanced concoction of nuts, caramel malt, wood and come complementing hops. This was easily the most mature Barley Wine I’ve ever tasted. Just a fantastic beer to be enjoyed with friends possessing a discerning palate. bigrond (1045), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 12, 2007 Brand new bomber. Clear orange color with a medium head. Fair lacing. Aroma of earth and butterscotch. Tasted a little raisin, also. Bitter and sweet flavor. Alcoholic texture. A bit too much alcohol warmth for my tastes. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Smell is malty sweet cheap booze with some floral hints in there. Thick amber brown with white head and light lacing. Alcohol is very present and not well balanced. There is nothing to this aside from the sweetness and the abundance of obvious alcohol. Just not impressed. I thought this would be at least fairly enjoyable - but not at all really. The noise is sweet of caramel, a little spice, and a little bit of hops. Flavor is good with caramel malt and a little hops to balance. 11.26% is some strong stuff. brentfeesh (1038), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2007 2004 bottle enjoyed New Years Eve. Pours orange-amber with a light hazy. Big malt aroma with a nice crispness to it. Lots of alcohol, strong hops, and definite notes of citrus, minerals, and pine. The flavor was wonderful. Big malts with lots of caramel and great big pine hops. Some fruit presence. This thing has really started to blend and mellow. Full bodied and creamy with a semi-dry finish. I really like this. I wish I would have saved more than one bottle. If you have any 2004 give it a try!
