Limited early 2009 release, bomber bottle. Pours a beuatiful orange/russet. Small hea. Very nice citrus (grapefruit) aroma. Underwhelming start (semi-sweet, some malt) followed by a beautiful bitter finish, and a nice lingering bubbly mouthfeel (almost viscous) that then fades down to the boozy warmth in the throat. Very good beer.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber with a thin off-white head. Very nice malty aroma with some sweetness and orange peel noted as well. The flavor, in a word, is luscious. Superbly well balanced malt and hops with caramel and cognac also in the background. Wonderful, full mouthfeel with just the right viscocity. I did not find this beer aggressive in the least and the alcohol was incredibly well hidden. This is a finely crafted barley wine.

Sweet aromas. Some baked bread in there as well. Pours a cloudy golden color. Went well with some baked hoisin chicken I had. Full bodied and sweet fruit flavors. Awesome brew.

I had never had barely before I had this one just the other night. Was definitely an experience. I was definitely thrown a bit off guard by this beer and will have to try again. Was a lot heavier than expected, even though it’s clearly marked as 11.6 abv... Has some bitter smoothness in it. Was pretty good, but not fantastic. After a year of aging, the taste is very nice. This is very smooth now, tasting like candy. Awesome with some age.

Aroma of sweet and spicy fruit. Lovely amber beer with small beige head. Fruit, nuts, bitter almonds. Grassy and dusty hops balances the sweetness impressivly. Alcohol warming in the background and in the finish. Outstanding!
