Ruination Ale on steroids? Flavor is sticky sweet & complex. Over-the-top hoppy, malty & bitter, but Stone somehow manages to keep this runaway train in perfect balance. Excellent, but not for the timid! brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA

Big malt aroma with a nice crispness to it. Lots of alcohol, strong hops, and definite notes of citrus, minerals, and pine. The flavor was wonderful. Big malts with lots of caramel and great big pine hops. Some fruit presence. This thing has really started to blend and mellow. Full bodied and creamy with a semi-dry finish. I really like this. I wish I would have saved more than one bottle. If you have any 2004 give it a try! drfabulous (1275), Columbia, Missouri, USA

Flavor is great balanced, deep taste of sweet malt and a lot of hops. Very thick, but finishes clean due to the alcohol. harrisoni (6832), Ashford, Kent, England

Good sweetness in mouth, so kinda good balanced hop on end. But hops balance the sweetness well. Some heat from the alcohol. Better on tap, smoother even though heat is there. But hops and biscuit malt work really well. Lovely. punkpie (19), Covina, California, USA

Pours a red-orange... with the sweet smell of brown sugar and maybe caramel... at a first taste reminds me of maple syrup... the alcohol makes it’s presence known... it has a bit of a bitter taste then becomes sweet again... with a lingering aftertaste... it’s like dessert only better... I’m loving it!

Not nearly as dark as I was expecting--deep bronze--along with a lighter mouth feel too. Great offering from Stone--will warm you up to be sure. can8ianben (911), Pasadena, California, USA

It is thick, syrupy, and sticky sweet. There is some alcohol present, but then again, it’s over 11%, so it should be! Deep dark red in colour, nicely different than a golden colour from other barley wines.
