Commercial Description:
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

I originally expected this to be like Dogfish head 90 minute IPA, but it is far from. The aroma is of a refreshing hops. Persistent white head. Taste is not overbearing despite the commercial description. Instead a strong refreshing evergreen comes through in the aftertaste, which lingers no longer than it needs to. reminds me of my christmas tree. I normally don’t go for IPA’s, but this isn’t bad.

Bottle. A nice hazy golden orange color body with a short soapy white head. Aroma is huge amounts of hops, piny, citrus, resin, floral, with a hint of the malty goodness.Flavor is crisp and bright, citrusy, spicy and floral hops, quite resiny,a little grainy,a,nice malty side, just enough to keep things in order, not a sticky mess or a bitter bomb, just a really nice show of hops, medium carbonation, full body, loads of sticky lacing,a long hoppy finish, this is very good stuff, I will buy this again.

bottle. Haven’t had this in years... about time to revisit. Pours a bright, hazy straw yellow; half inch of bubbly head that clears quick but leaves a nice layer and ring with plenty of lacing. Nose of sharp bitter citric hops, some light grapefruit and lemon-lime, some light cookie sweetness, and a very mild soapy aroma. Flavor starts with sharp, crisp citric bitterness that coats the palate. Defined C-hop citrus notes- grapefruit, sharp lemons, aggressive bitterness. Not much depth to the hop profile, but it certainly makes some noise. Malt sweetness is mellow and tamed- some light toasty biscuits and bread that sits under the hops. Palate is full and even, crisp and dry with a decent amount of lingering bitterness. Overall, a solid DIPA that seems to have gotten past some growing pains- but really not much depth to speak of, nothing especially unique or interesting.

Aroma of sourdough, bitter hops and and alcoholic dryness dominate. Taste is sick, sick bitter with a finish of more bitter, pretty simple. Mouthfeel only develops past thin if allowed to sit for an hour, which you might opt for due to all the hops. Many a hop head will love it, but if you prefer some balance to your imperial this is a lost cause. Sorry Stone, much respect. 2008 12oz.

For hop heads, how can you not like any of Stone’s DIPA’s and IPA’s..Ruination is solid like its little brother.. a little pricey for a 22oz but im still buying...great brew!!

Golden color, off white head with light lace. Hoppy nose, citrus and grass and a little sweet malt hidden in there. Taste is very hop forward with a sweet mid and then finished off bitter, just what you want when you grab a Stone beer.

Bottle.Clear yellow appearance with a small head. Hoppy bitterness with hops dominating. An excellent example of this style which is dangerously drinkable.

Pours out light golden orange with light head. Taste is bitter hops and fruity sweetness. Some what thick and creamy.Good flavor very drinkable. Not much of a double IPA. Not as hoppy as others.
