Commercial Description:
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

pours a hazy honey color with a thin white head...retention could be better. aroma is very sweet and resinous with pineapple and grapefruit. flavor is more grapefruit with some grassiness. very light on the palate and smooth with a dry earthy finish. not my favorite stone product...

bottle courtesy of joekinty: pours a clear golden amber nice medium white head that lingers with some lacing. aroma is full of hops plenty sticky citrusness and plenty of malt that has a sweetness. hints of grassy earth also. very nice. flavour is a very earthy dirty grass flavour and a decent amount of malt finishes a bitter hop the mouth feel is nice not to thick.

Be prepared for an in-your-face hoppy, hoppy IPA. This is a beer to be savored. With a hazy appearance and strong nose, this brew will not go quietly into the night....

Nice amber color with a small white head. Nose is gorgeous. Citrus, floral and a backsplash of pine. Hops, hops and more hops in the mouth. A small amount of malty roundness keeps it balanced but this is a hop head’s beer. Finishes bitter and brutal. This is definitely all about the hops.

Very good, but not great. Missing a little something in the after taste. Great hoppy flavor.

Pours to a slightly hazy amber with a single digit, beige head that doesn’t stick around very long. The nose is very citrus, and floral as grandma’s garden. A small sip of this beer will grip your taste buds and not let go as it falls down your throat. This is one of the best (and easiest to find) IPAs on the market.

A classic. Slightly hazy golden-orange with a nice off-white head. Really hoppy, resinous aroma with sweet malt to balance. Hits you hard off the bat with big-time hop bitterness and finishes just as strong. Piney, citrusy, and unapologetic. Nice caramel malt and grapefruit flavors. Surprisingly smooth finish. Definitely a top-tier IPA.

From a bottle with an enjoy by date 4/07/09 so it must be fairly fresh. Pours clear amber with a fat one finger cream color head. Moderate amount of lacings. Aroma is piney hops. Taste is orange grapefruit resinous hops with a surprisingly rich caramel malt partner. The mouthfeel gets fairly close to a barley wine but the taste remains in the IIPA realm. It has a pine needle dry bitter finish. Overall a fine beer. One that I would highly recommend.
