Commercial Description:
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Poured medium amber, aroma is of malts, wet forest, and pines. Flavor is of smoothness, malted hops, pines, a little grapefruit hints through its medium bodied. An Imperial style that comes across to me as more of a traditional IPA with just a little umph. Awesome beer! (Thanks Steve & Matt).

Too much. Over the top hoppiness, more than necessary. I love Stone but prefer their basic IPA to Ruination. I don’t get even the whisper of a malt backbone, just hops for the sake of over-hoppiness. Not horrible by any stretch, a reasonably drinkable brew but there are other more desirable alternatives. If you get a reasonable example of Dogfish 90 Minute you’re drinking a better beer. Still acceptable if it’s the only bottle of Stone at your disposal.

Damn, is this beer good or what? Its a hop lovers dream. Take a sniff from your bottle, smells amazing. Malty, hoppy, sour. Stone brewery doesnt skimp on quality here. Take a huge mouth full and just let it settle on the back of your tongue before you swallow. This is what beer is about. Cheers! to another great Stone brewery product. This beer is a punch in the face and a pure invasion of the senses.

12 oz. bottle...Pours a nice golden hue with beautiful creamy white head. Lots of lacing. Nose is grapefruit, grass, and caramel. Palate is a creamy, perfectly-carbonated sensation. Taste is bitter with grapefruity hops dominating. There is a nice malt backbone here, with some caramel and maybe even honey notes being picked up. Man is this stuff good.

Lovely golden-orange in color. A blast of piney hops and fresh flowers from the galss, at first wave, with citrus and spice notes. A zesty, but balanced on the palate. Orange zest right away fading to a piney, mineraly finish. Creamy and full bodied. A pleasure to sit and sip! I’ll definately have another!

Bottle->tulip: Pours a large, rocky, white head atop a clody, orange body. Hops are perfume-y with some citrus aftertones. The body is full, texture creamy, carbonation lively, and has a bitter finish. The duration is average and is heavily acidic and bitter. A definite winner in my book!
