Commercial Description:
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

A hop-head’s delight. Bronze color with a smallish but persistent off-white head. Potent floral nose. Flavor is ridiculously potent hop and the bitter hop finish lasts longer than the taste of a cigar lasts in the mouth of a non-smoker trying a potent cigar for the first time. Only hopeless hop-heads need try this one.

Poured out of a tall boy, cloudy amber. Nice 3 finger head that wisps out to some lacing with foamage. Very strong aroma of earthy hops with a good bit of citrus thrown in. Good malt backbone leads to a sweet aroma as well. Very good bitterness down the back of the tougue. Leaves a very demanding presence. Doesn’t overwhelm like many double IPAs, very very good.

Pours a light orange, rests in the glass a medium-dark amber. Slight off-white head slowly disappears. Aroma: powerful citrus, powerful pine! Tangerine, grapefruit, spruce, white pine. Taste: Medium sweetness; bitterness is on the high side of medium; a pronounced tartness to this. Lemon peel comes to mind... a hint of sour fruitiness, countered by bitterness. Palate: Lively carbonation, medium body. Smooth texture. Finish takes a while. Bitterness lingers, tartness becomes perhaps a little more apparent then than in the mouth. Powerful! Next beer I had this night seemed watery compared to this. Leaves an impression! Will buy again.

(a few bottles at various times)

lct-gold, foamy-wh-head.

very piney-resiny-hops all the way through this beer, but hops are not citrusy or herbal or crazy-bitter. the malt is not very noticeable, but is obviously there with just enough presence to keep a leash on the hops. alchl is not very detectable in the aroma/flavor either.

Bottle. Hazy light orange pour. White clingy head. Massive pine and citrus hip aroma and taste. Very bitter - could have a little more malt backing.

Bottle, pous alight hazy amber with sofy white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma, Huge pine and citrus and somesoft fruity sweetness. Taste, softsweetness mixed with strong pine and citrus hops. The hops overpower, tart grapefruit finish leaves dry mouth and hops linger and continue to turn your face inside out. I love it.

Bottle. Clear gold pour with some white head. Lots of very hoppy aromas, the usual pine and grapefruit all-american nose. Taste is very much the same pine-sol and alcohol. A nice interlude in an otherwise all belgian night.

Bottle. Very good beer. Love the bitter. As others have commented, great color and aroma. I would prefer a fuller body on the palate. A bit thin for me, but a nice clean finish. Would enjoy this on a warm day with a burger or steak.

Bottle at Olympen. Pours a medium to dark orange with a finger of creamy, soapy white head. Aroma is very hoppy. Resin, spruce, grapefruit, passion fruit, slightly perfumy, some alcohol. It has got this odd chemical note. Can’t pin it down, but it smells like something from the lab at work. Doesn’t quite fit in. The first sip was surprisingly unruinous. Perhaps because I just had Avery IPA. It is bitter, yes, but I wasn’t shocked or anything. The malts struggle hard to keep the hops from going overboard. Carbonation is fittingly sparkly. Not bad, but lacks that specialy something.
