Apr 21, 2008 Aroma: vague smokyness, malt, obscene, beautiful, chocolate, hops. Quite subtle.
Flavour: nice, hoppy, smoky, delicate sweetness. Nutty & oily.
Palate: lovely, velvet, coffeelike mouthfeel. Crisp.
Appearance: deep blackish red with beige head.

Apr 19, 2008 Nice porter. Poured very dark with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Some smoke is barely present. Not overwhelming, which is nice. Taste is very crisp, of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. I can’t really taste any smoke. Finish is very crisp, with some hops coming through. Mouth is smooth and body is medium, maybe a little light for a porter. Overall, a great porter.

Apr 19, 2008 subtle smoke, but still great--quaffable and tasty; cocoa and stinky cheese nose, the aroma remains as chocolate and coffee; good balance from the hops that makes this not overwhelming, but i could use more smoke; i would love to have more because this beer is simple, but hides more quality.

Apr 17, 2008 Updated: Dec 19, 2008 Pours dark brown with great dark tan head retention. Aroma is not overbearingly smokey, but certainly present. Base porter is roasted and silky with nice smoke qualities. Personally, I’d like more smoke, but this is a well balanced beer.

Apr 15, 2008 Dark brown pour, with a medium foamy tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted nuts and smoke. Very tasty. Dark fruits, chocolate, and a hint of smokiness. Not bad at all!

Apr 14, 2008 I am learning that I don’t much like porter as a style. That is unfortunate because this is a very nicely balanced brew with good color, reasonable mouth feel and a nonlingering finish. But, I like hops.

Apr 12, 2008 Updated: Apr 21, 2009I remember first buying this beer at a local liquor store in Las Vegas and having high expectations. The aroma had a nice nutty and smokiness to it. It poured an awsome black and had a brown head. The taste was exceptional, with notes of chocolate, coffee, and smokiness from start to finish. A nicely balenced porter and one of my favorites out there.
