Commercial Description:
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

A red-brown beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate, but not much smoke compared to a Bamberg beer. The flavor is dry, slighty sour but also sweet and with light notes of chocolate. The end is quite roasty. I can’t detect the smoke, but it is a nice porter.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a clear, chestnut brown with a warm, reddish glow and a dense, beige head leaving some laces. Lightly sweet, roasted malt with a wee whiff of dried fruit. Medium body, lightly burned malt accents with a bitter finish. Very little smoke to be detected. 150807

Really dark brown. Hints of licorice and smoke in the aroma. Medium bodied, somewhat roasty, slightly malt sweet with bitter finish. Only a hint ofg smoke, I would have expected this beer to be more aggresive, but it is rather well balanced.

Bottled. Almost opaque black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, smoked wood and slight "babyrauchbierish". Flavour is American hops, caramel and a bit wood. Aroma has the smoke/roast in it, but the flavour seems to totally lack that part... 8 4 6 3 14

Cask@GBBF2008. Deep ambery brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is oak, smoked wood, licorice, vanilla and some mild hoppyness. Flavour is wood, mild notes of brandy, alcohol and licorice along with some mild vanilla and smoked notes. Kickass! 9 4 8 5 18
