It’s a really great beer, with a nice smoked flavor. It’s just a great porter and well drkz007 (1), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jul 27, 2005 This beer is above and beyond one of the all time best dark beers that you can have whenever and whatever still you prefer DreamFragments (11), Nevada, USA

The smokiness is immediately noticeable, along with flavors like caramel, coffee and chocolate. It's smooth, a tad bitter, with just enough tang to make a good piece of chocolate taste really great. I usually do not like any beer with the word "smoked" in the name, but ordered it cause it was the only Stone brew offered that day & it was simply amazing. Tasty as hell - without being "too" anything. Subtle waves of flavor! Prostman (1077), Pennsylvania, USA

The color is deep brown/amber...almost black with a consistent tan head. The taste is very roasty with only the tiniest smokiness you can think of. A suberb example of a porter and one, if not my favorite porter. awautlet (45), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Light malty nose with a hint of smoke. On the palate are flavors of toasted malt, dark chocolate with just a touch of smoke. I like that the smoke is light and really enhances the beer instead of becoming the only taste component. Dry and slightly bitter finish. Wulfstan (509), California, USA

Frnm a bottle it is deep, dark reddish brown, almost black, with a thick dark tan head and very good lacing. The flavour is smooth but rich, deep, and complex. There is a caramelly sweetness which combines with the bitterness, coffee-chocolate element, and faint smokiness wonderfully. The texture and palate are similarly smooth and rich.
