BMan1113VR (658), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA May 12, 2008 A bit overated in my opinion. I must say, I agree with Greg Koch’s quote, the smoke level is perfect. Pours with a leage, foamy, ligh brown head covering an ultra dark brown body. Aroma is smoke and tons of molasses. Taste is smokeyness, and coffee. Tons of intense flavor for a sub-6% ABV. Sort of a nutty aftertaste. Great lacing from the head. Light carbonation and a decent mouthfeel.
jbuzz (414), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 21, 2008 Smoked Beer tasting at Three Cellars Milwaukee. Nice rich porter Chocolate and coffee. Not the best Porter I have had but very good. esjaygee (687), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 20, 2008 Brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, sweet malt and notes of hops. Taste in line with aroma plus a little chocolate. Smoke not overpowering, nice complement to the beer. Finishes Mildly bitter with a dry semi-hoppy finish. AndrewKScott (246), Lemont, Illinois, USA Jul 19, 2008 Dudebra says this is disappointing and I’m not saying his wrong, aight? Full bodied, big smoke flavor, a good example of the style. However, I don’t look to stone for "a good example of the style", I look to stone for beers that blow my mind. This didn’t. NaturalIce (73), South Orange, New Jersey, USA Jul 19, 2008 Great beer. First porter I’ve had in 10 years! I am going to make a promise to grab a porter or 2 next time i go to the beer store. Deep mohagny and very rich flavor. gameface23 (40), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle that was a few month’s past it’s enjoy by date. It poured black with a tan head that was gone within 2 minutes. It smelled like someone lit a campfire in the distance. I could really taste the smokiness. It was enjoyable.
