WeeHeavySD (1539), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA May 13, 2008 On tap at the Bistro today. Pours cloudy golden with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet and yeasty. Taste was way too bitter for a proper belgian styled ipa, it was not balanced well in my opinion, way too much upfront bitterness to be palatable.
doubleo (652), San Diego, California, USA May 14, 2008 Growler. Pours golden orange/yellow with a fluffy white head, decent retention, good lace. Smells yeasty and of banana and some citrus. I am going to respectfully disagree with WeeHeavySD in that this beer is not nearly bitter enough/at all. Tastes bready and yeasty with some sweet citrus and just a bit of grassy hoppiness. Medium body, smooth carbonation. nightrider (221), encinitas, California, USA May 12, 2008 On tap at the Brewery for an afternoon off work and an afternoon sample. Hazy golden color with a nice white head. Aromas of hops and belgian yeast. Good medium body and solid bitterness balanced with some fruitiness. Very good indeed. wetherel (883), Carlsbad, California, USA May 12, 2008 What? Badlizard was at the brewery at the same time too, but I missed him. Tried on tap at Stone after picking up a growler. Nice hoppy aroma. Frothy white head. Hops fades to banana Belgian yeast quite quickly. Belgian IPA is very approprate. Medium bitterness. A little dry. Some saison characteristics. Nice badlizard (1373), San Diego, California, USA May 12, 2008 On tap at brewery. Hazy golden with a creamy white head. Fruity hoppy aroma. Fruity, banana, caramel taste with lots of citrus hops on the back end.
