Pours a pitch black with a loose black head with some foam and lacing. Interesting spicy aroma, molasses too. Tastes very, very unusual! Very sweet, with a strong flavour of over-ripe banana and cloves. If tastes like the folks at Storm decided to play a prank on us and ferment it with hefeweizen yeast. Very odd, but still very drinkable! Thick body low in carbonation but typical for a tapped stout. I must have this one again - so very odd!
elelwarren (132), SF Bay area, California, USA Aug 1, 2008 Poured on tap at the Main, Vancouver, BC. Not really a stout- Drinks more like a nice Schwartzbier. Apparently an ale...but I have my doubts. Very smooth mouthfeel, with low carbonation. Scent and flavor strong on yeasts and peaches. Some light, roasted barley bitterness. A wonderful addition to my short BC trip. Beershine (1207), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 13, 2007 Personally I don’t see what people see in Storm beer except for its quirkiness. I find that all the beers have the same baseline flavors. The stout is interesting for sure, with odd astringency. It’s thin and strange and I don’t appreciate its body or flavor composition. Like other Storm beers it has no head. It is a change of pace, with novel character, though. This is worth trying if you are in Vancouver. In fact, the beer really does reflect the quirkiness of the city. tiggmtl (4169), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Dec 31, 2006 Mild roast and licorice notes with some chocolate and berries in the nose. Opaque black body is topped by a generous off white head that recedes to a lasting cover and coats the sides of the glass. Hickory, biscuity malts and chocolate flavours blend well with subtle roastiness and berrylike fruity esters. Bitterness is moderate and offsets the sweet malts well. Medium body with decent and lasting carbonation. Sampled on tap at The Main. Resampled at The Whip with similar notes and score. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Nov 7, 2006 Draft at O’Douls in Vancouver. This is a very good sweet stout it is not as light as many sweet stouts. Nice dark black appearance that contrasts the light sweet flavor. There is also a nice bite to this brew its not perfect, but its certainly good.
