I've only had a couple of beers but found them to be really well crafted. This one was a rich reddish-brown with a thin tan head to entice you. Malty and fruity (some raisin for sure) and bready. Some caramel through the sweet mouthfeel leading to a dry smooth resiny and very ageable finish. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Better than Prima Pils only because it is impressive that a US brewer can make a good malty beer. Deep chalkly ruby with a large thinly slowing off-white head. Raisony bready caramel aroma, full and smooth like no beer that I have had. Starts and ends slightly sweet. Wow. Most underated beer on the site. Sturgess (173), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Flavors of candi, brown sugar, figs, raison, and dried prunes, this is the stuff when it comes to a bock guys. Full bodied for a bock(dunkel?), sweet finish. Excellent Bock, maybe a classic!! | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 12, 2004 Updated: Dec 20, 2004Dark brown body with a beige with VERY tight lacing, bubbles stick to the glass perfectly, close to a 5 appearance wise, it could basically just use a longer lasting. Aroma is deeply sweet and eminently complex. A plethora of malty facets. Pretty much every sweet malt flavor is in there, name it you’ve got it. From candy to licorice, from candi sugar to brown sugar, from prune to cherries coming accross blueberries. This is complex and pure. A delight for the nares. In mouth, the party keeps on going. Add a earthy aspect with notes of ashes and fireplace that get almost chalky. Aftertaste is woody and almondy. A big malt festivity which I can’t help but loving, but I’m forced to recognise the sweetness becomes a little too much, especially if you’re thinking of having this whole 765ml to yourself. Body is flawless and more, creamiest brew I’ve had in a good while, smooth like hell (hell is smooth??) and lager-ish in that sense, but VERY full and chewy. Big props to hopsrus for sending this rare liquid candy treat up the north. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Fantastic, complex sweet malt aroma with burnt caramel, toffee, dark plum, chocolate and wood. Dark ruby brown with nice light brown, large-bubbled head that dissipates slowly. Big, dark fruit sweet sugary chocolate and some toasted biscuity malt flavours. Very complex. Very heady. Almost ABT-like bubblegum flavour at times with a roastiness in the final taste. Really full-bodied and malty. Best enjoyed with full carbonation - once head has fully diminished sweetness becomes more sticky. Bottle.
