Commercial Description:
A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

a good beer, not much in the way of hop flavor, this one is all about malts. smells of malts, tastes of malts, easy drinking but nothing mind-blowing

Clear amber with a medium head. Fair lacing. Aroma of grains and bread. Barely noticeable hops, or maybe I’m just imagining it. Tastes mostly of the grains and malts. Medium body. Not bad.

Pours a clear golden with a nice frothy white head. The aroma is malty with a notable hoppish quality. Flavor has maltiness charateristics of caramel and biscuit along with the spiceness of noble hops and a moderate bitterness at the finish.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of finely sized white colored bubbles that were and left behind a softly carbonated orange colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was malty and oatmeal. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt and hops.

I couldn’t find a case of Victory’s St. Boisterous so the owner of Ryan’s beverage suggested the Mai-bock. An excellent suggestion. Light brown with an off-white head. A rich but short lasting musky sweetness takes over. Reminds me of Chimay Red, except with the carbination of a lager. Everything finishes off very nicely except for the alcohol. Leaves your upper front throat warm for a little while.

12oz Best Before 8/28/06. Pours a clear orange with a minimal eggshell head, fading to a ring. It does rouse pretty well for a little bit though. Aroma of sugar cookies, caramel, biscuity malts, and some light grassy hops. Flavor has the addition of some grain, a little alcohol, a bit of earth, and overall fairly sweet--not really anywhere near cloying. Minimal bitterness. Light to moderate carbonation with a smooth medium body. Even though this is past its due date, it’s still pretty good stuff.

12oz bottle pours golden with a pretty nice white head. Aromas of good caramel malts, some raisin, grainy notes and some yeast. Flavor is dough, caramel, yeast, raisin, honey, and some slight spicey hops at the finish. Silky mouthfeel with adequate carbonation.. I thought this was a rather interesting beer.. Not a style you see around lots...

Light golden color with medium white head. Light, grainy aroma with some light fruits. Taste is grainy, smooth and sweet - really like the honey in there. Above average for the style.
