Commercial Description:
A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

Light honey aroma from the faint golden brown body. Medium palate with medium carbonation. Mix of light malt, honey, and hops in the flavor. Very plain, and just a weak flavor profile altogether.

From a 12 oz. bottle with no freshness date. Poured a slightly hazy orangey blonde with a foamy white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing. Aromas of cereal grainy and honey, an apple fruitiness, and spicy floral hops. Good steady, moderate carbonation and a crisp, dryish, velvety smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Delicious tasting, honey covered cereal grains, apple fruitiness, spicy, grassy hops, the alcohol is slightly noticeable and warming in the palate, and sweet grainy, malty finish with a nice hop leafiness lingering in the aftertaste. A nice, dangerously quaffable maibock from Stoudt’s, well worth seeking out and trying.

Reasonable, pleasant, but not exciting. Slight flavor of caramel. Unusual mixed in w/ what otherwise seemed like a blonde.

Bottle. Clear orange coloured body with a small white head. The aroma has cereal, bread, and faint sweet fruit. Flavour is a bit bland - cereal is predominant - fruit loops and bread. Soft carbonation and a bit of faint fruitiness.

Stoudts Blonde Double Mai-bock 12 oz bottle Brewed Spring 05, drank 09/06 Poured a clear flat amber with an average rocky white mostly diminishing head with good lacing. Smelt of moderate grain with hints of pine and grapefruit and a hint of sweat. Taste was upfront light sweet bread and slight bitterness followed by a heavily bitter and lightly sweet and acidic grapefruit rind, with a pinch of spice, in an average length finish. Mouthfeel was light to medium, watery and heavily astringent with soft carbonation. Overall, a beer that probably lost its roundness and taste with age. Notes: will have to rerate a fresh batch.
