Commercial Description:
A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

Pours a clear copper color with a thin white head. Aroma of hay, grass and caramel. Flavor of hay, grass, caramel and barley sugar (sucre d’orge) with a bitter finish. The palate is light and oily. Not bad but a richer, rounder malt would have been nice.

Sampled at brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts and fruit. The flavor is sweet, hops are mild, and fruit. Enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Deep blonde color. Completely uneventful. Disappointing. I expected a little more body and flavor.

Bottle. Poured dark amber with a huge frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

Prety gold color with small head. Taste very malty with slightly smokey sweet flavor.r. The finish was rather dry.

Very nice blonde color with white head. Gentle malty sweet aroma. Some malty sweetness with nice carbonation but nothing that impressive.

Very deep gold in color, little head and lace. The nose contains definite honey, some sour hay and silage. This transfers into the immediate flavor, which begins to transform into an equal contingency of powerful honey, sourness, and spiced hops. The extra honey additive almost borders on being both cloying and separately vomitous, but stops just short on both accounts... weird, honestly. There is a tad of astringency to the end of the finish, peppering the gums and sides of the tongue. The mouthfeel is medium, but not really noteworthy. Not a bad brew, but honestly difficult to accept as an everyday "Ol’ Faithful".
