Flavor of hay, grass, caramel and barley sugar (sucre d’orge) with a bitter finish. The palate is light and oily. Not bad but a richer, rounder malt would have been nice. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 10, 2006 Very deep gold in color, little head and lace. The nose contains definite honey, some sour hay and silage. This transfers into the immediate flavor, which begins to transform into an equal contingency of powerful honey, sourness, and spiced hops. The extra honey additive almost borders on being both cloying and separately vomitous, but stops just short on both accounts... weird, honestly. There is a tad of astringency to the end of the finish, peppering the gums and sides of the tongue. The mouthfeel is medium, but not really noteworthy. Not a bad brew, but honestly difficult to accept as an everyday "Ol’ Faithful". dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA
