Commercial Description:
A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

On draft at The Flying Pig... Appears a copper toned gold with a small white head that slowly fades and leaves scattered bits of lacing in the glass. Smell is of honey, dough, and fruity with mild caramel notes. Taste is of the same aromas. Not bad but not knocking my socks off either. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a warming, crisp, dry finish.

Very clear light copper with a small off-white head. Light herbal and grassy nose with a little smokiness and fresh dough. Flavor has notes of fresh grain, grassiness, caramel and smoke. Finishes with a mix of hop bitterness and malty sweetness, leaning more towards the sweet side. Medium, round body with medium carbonation, smooth texture. No lacing or head retention. Overally, pretty solid.

Pours crystal clear with a nice head. Nice auburn orange color is enticing. Aroma hits me with olives and pimentos and only a touch of honey. In the mouth you get a sprouty taste, slightly metallic, with a gentle honey note and slight noble hops. Earthy and mild, though the carbonation seems a little forced.

Draft at HDG. Light gold with a small head. Initial taste is mostly alcohol and once you get past that, there’s a honey coated Cheerios taste. I also get some orange as it warms. I’d like some more grain and less alcohol.

Glassy auburn with a small-bead white head. Aromas of honey, caramel and wheat pizza crust. Short on the palate, but with gentle flavors of honey, rye, and caramel. Medium body, more than expected. Some alcohol on the initial finish, more as the beer warms. Kind of a warming American wheat with definite value as a sipper.

tap at shanks in marieta. I guess this is pretty decent. Pale colour. bit of a sweet taste, tad malty. Nothing really all that special, but worth a try.

Starts with a tall, frothy white head and a clear medium gold to brassy hue. The aroma is strong, but not overwhelming; clean, malty notes of dark breads, toasted grains, and a touch of honey. Soft and spicy noble hops play second fiddle. The initial taste is malty sweet, staying true to the aroma and introducing a slight note of dates. The finish is slow and lasting through a continuation of the smooth malts and crispness by way of muted spicy hops and tingling carbonation. The mouthfeel is enjoyable with a medium to full body and slick texture.
