Sep 9, 2005 the highlight of the august micro brewers fest for me, lots of honey and grass in the nose, with a slight caramel element as well. a honey brown colored body, crystal clear, with a nice white head that turned to lacing. the honey from the nose is mirrored in the sweet honey of the flavor and is complemented nicely by the caramel malts. the tail has a solid but not bitter hoppy character, giving this beer a sweet/bitter transition and a very crisp and clean mouthfeel. a very sweet and flavorful brew.

Aug 18, 2005 Pours a coppery golden color with a creamy beige head. Smells of honey and yeast. Taste can be described as a good lager with bits of honey in it. Not bad.

Jul 14, 2005 From 767mL bottle. A beautiful bronze color like that of an Athenian warriors armor. Rich, toasted, grainy malt aroma with floral highlights. The honeyied aroma is fleeting and wispy, just showing itself with deep inhales. Alcohol presents itself as it warms. Pretty full in body and hangs well on the palate. Initial taste shows rich, full malt that is enhanced by higher alcohols. It then turns to fresh, intense malt that is seductive with hop flavor riding along and enhancing the overall flavor. From there it turnes to a nice bitter bite that reminds you that this is a Maibock. It then finishes with higher alcohols, mild bitterness, clinging mouthfeel and toasty malt creating an omnipresent and sustaining finish.

Jun 5, 2005 Updated: Mar 4, 2006Nice-looking blonde with a frothy head, but poorly-balanced brew. Thin finish. Fruity beer and yet it was slightly too bitter. Like Notalush notes, there were too many hops in this. The honey was a nice touch.
re-rate: much milder, with herbal notes and heather. The flavor is slightly caramel and refreshingly malty. It’s much better than I thought it was orignally.

Jun 5, 2005 Updated: Mar 3, 2006[re-rate - bottled version - not very maibock-like, but quite a nic espring beer - nice grainy malt, honey character, tempered well with a strong, but not over powering hop profile - pretty decent] [draught] straw colored with a slight tint of copper - fruity, light aroma - floral with background fruitiness - lots of hops for the style, especially in the finish - that wouldn’t be bad if they combined well with the sweeter flavors, but in this case they don’t - they stand in brutal opposition to one another, leaving the palate confused.

May 16, 2005 Yeast and caramel rolled into a beer that I honestly felt was a little watery for my tastes. Maybe it was just a goofy batch. I need to try it again.

May 1, 2005 Poured a ric h amber with fluffy off white head.Aroma of malts and caramel and fruits. Tasted yeast and fruit. Thin body.
