Beautiful pour: dark copper, creamy head, great lacing, fresh aroma and fresh taste. Just a bit too sweet for my palate - I like a bit more hops or a bit more fermentation to dry it out a bit. Great example of the style, just not my preference. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

It ihad a citrus fruit aroma and a taste that was spicy but also included some fruit as well. Dry finish with a slightly oily mouthfeel. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2004 Glassy copper color with a nice continuation of bubbles forming in it. The initial mouthfeel is a decent sweet bitterness to it. The flavor following it runs with a decent somewhat fruity taste hidden in the malt, some bannana hidden in there makes a fine addition. haddon90 (1043), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2004 Deep copper color with a nice off-white head. Some honey and some maltiness to the aroma. Nice creamy malty flavor. Some hops linger as well. Honey and a sugary caramel finish it off. A very good bock, quite impressed! Sturgess (173), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured out of 12 oz. bottle, obtained in a Secret Santa gift exchange on RateBeer, 12/18/03. Pours with a thin, off-white head that dissipates. Very bright orange-amber body. A little bit much for my tastes-- I think it looks like orange cough syrup. Nose is pretty nice-- a little honey and some of that orange cough syrup again, slightly nectary floral quality with a faint spice. A bit buttery too. Reminiscent of a Spaten Optimator with its edge of tin. Flavor opens with a surprising bitter hop and dark malt bite. Still a little tin and an undercurrent of leatheriness and spice. Sticky on the lips with medium-full body. Surprisingly warming in the stomach immediately. Finishes with a long, glowing malt and dirty, grassy hop flavor. Pretty good stuff, but not one of my favorite bocks. Quite the lager, though! It's got a lot going for it and is a nice brew, just a little off for me. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
