Commercial Description:
A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

bottle poured a golden in color with heavy carbonation and a white frothy one finger head with good retention. aroma has pilsner malt, honey, light spice, and some minerals. mouth feel is light with frothy carbonation. flavor has some surprising bitterness from the hops, honey sweetness, light floral, and again some minerals. tastes like a souped up golden ale and is good for summer drinking. just the right sweetness to keep me going.

Clear gold pour grassy aroma. Alcohol well masked, however I found this beer rather boring. Maybe I missed out on the freshness factor.

Pours a clear gold with a white head and smells like a regular lawnmower beer. Nice citrus nose, and kind of a mild honey and hops afte taste. A little off balance with the hops comming out after the flavor has fadded, leaving a alcohol taste that forces you to take another drink to get rid of it. But easy drinking and goes down fast enough to start the night in a hurry. Would buy again, but only if it cheap.

12oz bottle from Total Wine (Tampa). Pours a mostly clear dark gold with a white head (one finger) that recedes slowly. Hints of citrus, spice and bread in the nose. This beer is medium-bodied but still slightly watery with notes of honey sweetness, grass and hops in the flavor. Slightly bitter, hoppy finish.

I am not by any means a hops fan... this one had a lot in it. Aroma is slightly bitter, resembling corn and grass. A VERY grassy beer and bitter, too. Mid-Amber color, thin head that slightly laces the glass. Not too good on the palate... nope. I’m not a fan.

Tap at Ginger Man. Deep golden beer, thick white head. Aroma is quite nice and clean. Pale malt, crisp noble hops and a soft bready maltiness. A little bit of sweetness up front but is controlled by the peppery boozy bite on the back. Pretty decent, but a little bit too boozy tasting, especially as it warms up.

Bottle - nice gold with a white head and some lacing. Honey and hop blend on the nose and leads into the pallet. Nice pleasant taste, creamy and malty with great body and texture. Refreshing!

Okay beer with a hint of honey, some grass, well hidden alcohol and a smack of some bitterness of hops in the finish. Not very sweet and malty but it seems well balanced even though I thought it would deliver more flavor than what I got. Bottle from Sabatinis in Exeter, PA.
