Commercial Description:
A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

bottle. dark golden in color with a thin white head. smells mainly of honey with a bit of earthy hops. nice well rounded flavor with some nuts and a grassy hop finish. palate is smooth but a bit cloying. overall it is pretty nice.

Draft at Flannigan’s Boathouse, Conshohocken. Annoying, bad waitress. Medium to dark gold with alot of a fluffy eggshell head. Sweet, hoppy aroma, flavor subtly floral hops, honey, candi sugar. Very well balanced. Enjoyed.

Draft at Which Brew. Poured a nice golden body with nice head. Aroma is sweet malt and crisp hops, floral. Flavor is malty with a light hop feel. Good mouthfeel and a little thick.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden with a one finger lasting white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet German malt with a hint of floral hops. Taste is fresh sweet malt with a hint of honey and earthy hops. Medium slightly creamy mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness. Very good.

July 2006 - My twin infants drink pear juice to help with their bowels. This beer smells EXACTLY like pear juice. Orangey yellow pour, little head, no lace. Flavor was like a honey/fruity syrup with a grassy hop finish that complimented the beer nicely, if not a bit out of place. Nice thick mouthfeel, almost like a thick fruit juice. If anything, a bit too sweet for easy Maibock drinking.

Golden-honey in appearance; aroma is light, head is thin but lace remains. Flavor is grainy and hppy w/ a soft, slippery feel; finishes overwhelmingly hoppy. Definitely an American version ofthe style.
