Commercial Description:
A rich, deep golden-blonde lager, Stoudt's version of the German classic style includes a generous amount of honey for added flavor notes. The full-bodied Mai-bock beer is significantly stronger than Stoudt's Gold Lager. Brewed with the finest German 2-row malt and a subtle, yet noticeable touch of noble hops, this year-round beer was traditionally made to cut through the chill of early spring.

Pours a clear orange gold with no head. Nose is sugar with some earth and a fairly full touch of wood. Flavor is fairly sweet, but not overly so. There is a good grain and earthy character there as well. Feel is slick on the liquid and low on the carbonation. This is a fairly even brew and is definitely drinkable. No superstar, but still fairly good.

Draught: Medium to heavily sweet aroma. Smells of hops, apples, honey, and malts. Poured gold in color with a big, foamy, rocky, off-white head that diminished slowly. Flavor is medium to heavily sweet. Tastes of honey, yeast, toasted malts, and noble hops. Light to medium body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, yeasty/honey finish.

A really nice tasting beer. The honey was evident, but so was the hoppy undernotes. Another fine beer from Stoudts.

Vastly underrated beer, Rich, complex malt flavor balanced nicely with good noble hops. Sweetness offset by a good hop presence, A double bock beer to be sure! Supreme bier.
