Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Bottle pours out a cloudy gold topped with a white head. Aroma of floral hops. Tast of nice floral ans some citrus. A very nice bitter end. Thanks Pinkzambia

Trade from Ross, thanks man! Pours a golden color with light white head and a good amount of lacing. Aroma is floral hops, light caramel malt and some subtle fruitiness. Taste is much the same. For a double IPA I was expecting a bit more citrus or pine in this beer, but overall it’s not bad. Alcohol is well hidden and carbonation is moderate. It’s easy drinking but not very tasty.

Pours a golden color with minute particles, a thin white head, with some sticky lacing. Aroma is hops, some citrus, and a light malt undertone. Taste is about the same - smooth and creamy, with little bitterness. A very easy-drinking IPA.

Hazy, honey/amber colored with a relatively small off-white head. Nose is quite sweet, with some citrus notes as well as peaches and sugar. Flavor is sweet, with a good dose of citric hops backing that up. Notes of grass and a nice astringency in the finish.

the aroma is hops, orange citrus scent. The head is big and creamy with excellent lacing. The color is copper/orange, the body clear. The initial flavor is creamy, a little malty, bitter citrus a nice IPA. The body is medium, the texture creamy and the carbonation soft.

12oz bottle poured a clear orange color with a small off white head and some lacing. The aroma had some spice from the hops, sweet caramel and some fusel alcohol that overpowered the hop character. The taste had an extremely smooth spicy bitterness for a double with some alcohol warming alongside a dry finish. Overall not a beer that I would go out of my way to try again.

Poured from bottle. Aroma of hops, malt and floral notes. Cloudy amber, thin white head. Big hops, but also a strong malt presence, with a bourbon aftertaste - no kidding. Alcohol is well hidden at first, but gives this beer a heady feel about midpoint. Mellows at finish. I’ll be looking for this one again

Bottle sampled at NFB&WF ’08 at Martha Clara Vineyards. Pours a clear gold. Mild aroma of pine and malt. Much more flavorful then the aroma suggests with a solid malt backbone up front followed by some resinous pine. Nice slightly sticky mouthfeel without being cloying. Bitter at the finish, but not excessive. Good stuff.
