Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Amber poor with nice head. Blueberry flavor with hop finish kind of strange but I enjoyed it.

Jan. 2007 - My favorite flavor in a beer is probably caramel malts. I also love a strong flavor. This beer was abundant in both, but what a mess. Incredibly sweet...repulsively so. Strangely, mellowed out a bit as it warmed, but not enough. Oh yeah, beautiful orange color, nice head and lacing. Other flavors were sweet fruits (apricots?), noticeable alcohol and fruity hops (grapefruit and others). Just too freaking sweet.

Pours a caramel-orange color with a very small head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma of sweet ruby red grapefruit with some brown sugar. A citrus rind bitterness with a nice balance of caramel and honey flavor. Good texture with a bit of an oily feel. Very drinkable for the high abv...

12 oz bottle. Lots of piny citrus business up in your nose from the start. A bit of alcohol is visible in the flavors. Different fruity flavors blend in the lemon citrusy aspect of this one. Quite bitter and bitter lasting towards the end. Fairly carbonated. Good stuff.

12-oz. Medium amber caramel body with bright carbonation and a thin, light gray filmy head. Buttery mango and pineapple nose. Medium body with very present carb. Biscuity and mango-y mid-palate. Mild biscuity finish. Good stuff.

Not the most refined IIPA but wonderfully hoppy and full of tude none the less. pours orange like the label and the 10.5%isn’t hidden at all, be that a good thing or bad thing. I liked it.

Bottle. Citric nose, reddish body, white head. Sweet, somewhat one-dimensional with citric hop character. Decent.

Bottle - grapefruit, lemon aroma. Small white head, lacing coats the whole glass. Clear, amber hue. Catching hints of honey. Syrupy palate. Moderate sweet, it could use a stronger bite.
