A bit on the weak side for taste, and finishes too bitter for the initial flavor. Does not have the strong piney-hop flavor I crave, but more on the malty side. I was not impressed, but it was not terrible either. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA

Surprisingly light aroma and flavor. Way too thin for a double. Good, but too light. kseecs16 (907), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Bottle. Poured clear light amber with a thick off-white head, good lacing. Hops are spicy and grassy and slightly sweet dominating the nose. Dry bitter flavor, little sweetness, floral notes, seems a little lacking in punch for a Double IPA. Medium bodied with a strong lingering bitterness. gpekar (229), Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Poured a slighty cloudy golden orange with a thin head. Nice hop aroma. The initial feel was of a creamy texture and a nice hop bite followed by a bit of sweetness that rolled into a mild bitter long finish. The high alcohol content was masked really well with the flavors mixing well. This is a really good IIPA!!! mcart034 (35), Manassas, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2007 From the bottle pours a slightly cloudy red/gold orange. Decent head. Hop aroma wasn’t overpowering considering it’s a DIPA. Good balance between malt and hop. Slightly sweet but finishes with the bitterness of the hops. Can definitely taste the alcohol in the background but it’s not overpowering. Very solid DIPA TheShat (131), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Bottle pours cloudy golden orange. The aroma is formidible! Hoppy/piny with a hint of sweetness. The flavor is malty and quickly jumps to a hoppy bitter finish, not dry like I would expect. There is also a jolt of alcohol. A winner! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2007 This Double IPA is above average for the style, which makes it a very good beer. Having only consumed it in a dark bar, I can’t give you a read on the color, but it has a good solid head. The aroma -- I swear -- reminds me of strawberries, which is intriguing, but (probably fortunately) doesn’t really carry over into the taste. The flavor is grapefruity hops with a hint of pineapple over the classic "solid malt backbone." Mouthfeel (which is very important to me) is full and round, with a nice sparkle of carbonation. Finishes clean and satisfying. Highly recommended. patty26 (95), New York, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2007 Pours a reddish orange (maybe burnt orange) with a thin white head. Very hoppy citrusy aroma. Very powerful DIPA. Pungent hops really wail on your palette. Bitter grapefruit aftertaste lingers in your mouth. Solid brew.
