Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

12oz bottle courtesy of Tayner, thanks a bunch. Nice dark black appearance with a brown head. Smells like roasty malt, oats, decent. Tastes like oatmeal, roast, pretty good and better than it smells, no alcohol. Easy to drink and I was glad to have had it. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-30-2008 01:16:34

Very good brew! Pours black with very little tan head. Chocolate/coffee aroma is prevalent. Goes down so smooth with a tasty oat flavor. Would drink again and again!

Poured from a bottle a nice black color with a very small tan head. A roasted malt aroma with hints of chocolate. Tasted of coffee, roasted malts and dark chocolate. Suprised to find out this beer is 9% as didn’t really detect the alcohol.

12oz bottle sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective stout tasting on 1.16.09. Pours black with a medium beige head. Malt, coffee and alcohol in the nose. Dry coffee flavor with some chocolatey sweetness. Pretty good.

Very thing and light. Lacking flavors of an Imperial. Not an ideal Imperial. A bit overrated here.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a large brown head that tops the beer. Pretty good loHoking, although the head fades pretty fast. Aroma of roasted malt, strong cherries, alcohol and a nice oatmeal twang. Full-bodied; Strong potent roasty oatmeal flavour with a large amount of sugars coming from caramel, toffee and chocolate. Aftertaste shows some bitter coffee and chocolate with a bitter taste following of oatmeal and some other malts. Overall, pretty sweet and alcoholic, even for the style. A good beer nonetheless, a bit lacking, but good! I sampled this 1+year old beer purchased way back at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 24-December-2005.

12oz. dark, shiny cola pour with lingering off-white head. nose is smoky-skunky. taste is sweet, smoky malt with some chocolate and coffee. This bottle must be a little out of date, it isn’t terribly fresh tasting and it hasn’t matured too well. Nice enough stout.
