Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

12oz bottle. Poured not as deep of black as most Imperial Stouts. A small light brown head left little lacing. Nose of bitter chocolate, coffee and burnt malts. Flavor held lots of oak and spice.

Bottle. Pours as a black syrup with a nice brown head. Smells of dark chocolate, anise and coffee and has a roasted aroma. Relatively light bodied for such a heavy-looking brew, easy on the palate. I was very impressed by this selection. Excellent beer.

Bottle. Black and opague. Grainy aroma with chocolate, licorice, roast and rye bread. Roastflavor with rye bread and pineapple. Roastbitter finish. Some warming alcohol. Slightly odd, but tasty.

Poured a very attractive black color with almost no head that dissipated quickly. Aroma and Flavor are a mixture of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The maltiness is offset by the hop balance. Has an oily character to it. Little lacing. Hides the alcohol well. Really good beer.

Oily black, almost no head. Nice roasted and bready notes fall off the top and give hints of chewy chocolatey flavors to come. Wow, very tasty. NIce silky smooth body and simple, yet deep roasted flavors combined with breaded and wheaty notes, and a pleasing and lasting bitterness to extend a fantastic taste. No touch of the high alcohol content. Very nice.

Had this last night at TJ Finley’s in Bayshore, NY. Bottle poured into a snifter. Poured black with just a little head. Smells of roasted malts and chocolate. Tastes of chocolate and coffee. A really great beer, maybe the best I’ve had so far. My friends were stealing sips left and right. ABV is pretty high, but you can not even notice it in the taste. I would definitely drink this again.

(USA) Courtesy of AFI96, Black in color with minimal head. There is a delightful aroma of oatmeal, chocolate, and coffee. Once again the 9% is well hidden in this brew !!! I’ve been to Stouts a few times and most of the beers are well balanced.
