Aroma and Flavor are a mixture of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The maltiness is offset by the hop balance. Has an oily character to it. Little lacing. Hides the alcohol well. Really good beer. cbeers21 (576), Miami, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 6, 2008 Oily black, almost no head. Nice roasted and bready notes fall off the top and give hints of chewy chocolatey flavors to come. Wow, very tasty. NIce silky smooth body and simple, yet deep roasted flavors combined with breaded and wheaty notes, and a pleasing and lasting bitterness to extend a fantastic taste. No touch of the high alcohol content. Very nice. NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Poured black with just a little head. Smells of roasted malts and chocolate. Tastes of chocolate and coffee. A really great beer, maybe the best I’ve had so far. My friends were stealing sips left and right. ABV is pretty high, but you can not even notice it in the taste. I would definitely drink this again. BeerGestapo (740), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA

There is a delightful aroma of oatmeal, chocolate, and coffee. Once again the 9% is well hidden in this brew !!! I’ve been to Stouts a few times and most of the beers are well balanced. afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 4, 2008 12oz bottle served in a snifter. Nearly black in color with almost no head. Smells of deeply roasted malt, oatmeal, and some coffee. Lots of oatmeal in the taste gives it a very smooth character, almost too smooth. It feels sessionable but I would end up on the floor if I tried doing that. Very tasty but lacking a bit when it comes to complexity. dpmeersman (9), Rochdale, Massachusetts, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 24, 2008 Pours nice and dark, thin head but lace lasts until the bottom of the glass. Very complex flavor but not to heavy for this type of beer. I’ve come back to this one several times. gonzo46and2 (108), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2008 Cookie like aroma wtih large coffee and chocolate presence. Alchohol is present in the aroma as it warms but is concealed well in the flavor. Goes down smooth and the bitterness is balanced well with the malt. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2008 Dark, sticky pour, great off-white head. A bit of soy and rubber in the nose, roasted smells. Strong whiskey, woody, licorice and molasses flavours with some earthy dark chocolate. Surprisingly bitter finish. Alcohol is all but hidden. Slight metallic sting. Very session-like for an imperial.
