Aroma of delicious roasted chocolate malts, alcohol, dark sugars. Flavor is noticeably molasses, chocolate malt, with just the right amount of hoppiness for this style. Pretty warm finish but not overly so. raiderfost (158), virginia beach, Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2008 Nose, initially of dark fruit/raisins, turns to roast malt, coffee, and chocolate. Beer is black with disappearing small tan head. Taste is sweet chocolate and some roast with slight oat/hop in the aftertaste. A creamy beer that’s a little clean but still quite good. Absolutely no detection of 9% ABV.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2008 Draft. Pours black with medium light brown head. Aroma of light coffee, and hints of chocolate. Tastes of coffee with a mild chocolate sweetness. Notes of nuts, toffee, and oats. Nice smooth oatmeal stout body with a great balance of bitterness and sweetness. Very little warming in the finish. in general it hides the 9% well. Very nice. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2008 Black pour with an espresso head. Strong coffee and oat aroma and flavor. Molasses, toffee, and chocolate round this one out. Finishes very creamy, no hint of the abv. Sessionable for an impy. Nice! obguthr (1052), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Interesting aroma of roasted oats, yeast, walnut, and pencil shavings. Black pour, thick tan head, good lacing. The flavor is roasted oat and grass, with tasteful soy sauce and molasses notes. Neat pencil shaving and peanut finish. Medium body, with the silky texture I love in oatmeal stouts. Great personality and balance. Excellent way of energizing the style. Cruzan59 (197), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2008 6-pack take home from the brewery...bottle pours black, tan head dissipates pretty quick...aroma was pretty mild actually (maybe it’s too chilled) but some evidence of coffee, chocolate…flavor is all there though, of toasted malts, coffee bean, vanilla…smooth mouth feel but the aftertaste was rather dry…better on tap but still very good.
