Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

Dark brown near black pout with a few whisps of tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roast. Really smooth flavor of chocolate and coffee. A bit of cream. A bit light on the palate but so smooth. Almost no apparent alcohol. This beer is like the best dessert you ever had in a bottle.

Bottle Pours a nice black with a good tan head. The head is lasting and laces excellently. Has a good aroma of roast, some bitters, dark chocolate, coffee, just a good smelling stout. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is good. Well blended. Alcohol is hidden well. The flavors really dance across the tastebuds. Has a slick texture. A medium to full body. The finish is strong with a plesasing aftertaste. Not the heartiest but very good.

Pours a rich very dark brown with a cream color head that hangs in there till the end. The bitterness is right on. A proper blend of hops and malt. The coffee notes don’t come across in the typical nature--they’re somewhat more implicit. The chocolate notes were light, also caught some date flavor caught my attention. Surprisingly solid beer.

Pours a very deep brown with a nice head, faded retention, but looks enticing... Roasty, somewhat sweet aroma, brown sugar, a bit buttery, some chocolate, and some coffee aromas... Silky texture, followed by a bubbly palate... Roasty, coffee, chocolate flavors dominate with notes of dark fruits faintly present.... Decent Imperial, certainly not in the low end, but certainly not in the upper end either...

pours a dark brown with a thin light tan head that goes away pretty quickly. aroma is very faint for an impy but has some breadiness and subtle chocolate...maybe a touch of burnt toffee. some caramel, burnt toffee, roastiness, coffee, and subtle chocloate in the flavor...better than the aroma suggests. mouthfeel is creamy and lively with a lingering burnt toffee aftertaste. good but not great.

12 oz bottle, shared with my bro, 2007 bottling - poured a deep brown with ruby at the edges and bottom. Decent head retention. Aroma is a strange but not unpleasant mix of milk chocolate and alcohol. Taste is chocolate and vanilla, there’s the alcohol again, not harsh, and some green hop i the finish. Not hugely well-integrated, and the parts at times pull at each other rather than mesh. Still, a very good beer.

Bottle acquired in a trade with JCB! Pours black and opaque. Aroma and Flavor are a mixture of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The maltiness is offset by the hop balance. Only issue with that is that I am much more of a malt fan than I am a hop fan. An interesting mix.

Had some really great imperials before this one, so kind of took away from it. Decent brew though. Chocolate and some coffee with roasted malt.
