Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

Bottle->english pint: Pours a medium frothy off-white-to-brown head that exhibits excellent lacing atop of a black body. There is coffee and caramel swell, as well as a generally sweet aroma. There is a sticky mouth feel, a bitter finish, and a long aftertaste. All-in-all, a sweet, dry, and bitter-finishing beer, but a great stout nonetheless...and to me the high alcohol content is a bonus.

12 ounce bottle- pours out an evil opaque black, darker that Turkish coffee. Nice head is a sandy brown. Aroma is all toast, very inviting. This stout is excellent. It immediately fills your mouth like the richest hot chocolate, running very deep into your mouth. I wanted to swirl the brew around in my mouth so as to not miss any of the subtle toffee / coffee flavor. All-in-all, wonderful. This one is a keeper.

I’ve had a six pack of this for a while now and have been enjoying a bottle or two every once in a while. A late season snow storm seemed like a fitting setting to enjoy a couple bottles of this calming stout. A very dark brown pour with a slight red tint around the edges. Large settling khaki colored head with an abundance of splotchy lacing. Prominent straightforward aroma of burnt toast and roasted coffee along with heavy cream and mild chocolate. Rich and sweet on the palate, this beer is exceptionally creamy and filling. Good bitterness with a complimentary faint alcohol presence. Warming, inviting flavor of creamy milk chocolate, burnt roasted malts, and nuts. A lingering bitterness reinforces the strong flavors. Hints of molasses, black licorice, and light sugar are noticed. Another well crafted Imperial Stout, man I love this style.

On tap at Oldsmar Tap House. Poured a midnight black, with a very creamy and lasting head. Tons of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt aromas, with brown sugar, and spicy rich sugar. Roasted malt flavor, chocolate, coffee grounds. Nice sweet finish. Warming, smooth body. A bit of a chalky texture, but doesn’t distract from overall drinkability. Very good.

12oz bottle. Roasted malt, bitter chocolate, cold press, and a good dose of fresh, piny and zesty hops. Pours a thick, dark brown, nearly opaque with a very thin and quickly disappearing khaki head. Roasted malt, bordering on charred. Lots of charred vanilla bean, chocolate, wood, a kiss of smoke. Medium to full bodied. Slightly viscous. Decent, but nothing spectacular.

bottle. Aroma is chocolate and coffee with a little dark dried fruit and smoke. Very dark brown black hue with a small tan head that mostly diminished and left little lace. Flavor is more coffee and chocolate with some nice malt flavors. Palate is full bodied and smooth with some alcohol. A very good imp stout from a great brewery.

12oz. bottle. Solid aroma of dark chocolate, heavy cream, faint toffee, dried flowers and woody smoke, along with some very light spiciness and medicinal alcohol. Solid black color with a fading tan head that rings the glass. Bursting with smooth, semi-sweet chocolate flavor, dark brown sugar, buttery, doughy pastry, finishing with plenty of roasty malts, hazelnut nougat and a mild dose of bitterness, spruce and dark, dried fruits. Lengthy, indulgent chocolate character persists. Smooth, thick and warming on the palate with a nicely full body. Nice balance and flavor development here, this is excellent.

Nutty, Portery aroma.Pitch black appearance. Taste is oatmeal and alcohol, but the alcohol warming is perfect.... just enough for an imperial stout. Drinkability is high. Although the alcohol level is high, super easy to slug back. A good imperial stout.
