| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Black like you find in a cave. Very little head. What bit of carbonation came to the surface was a darker tan. Nose of chocolate, toffee, and black cherries. A hint of coffee and a good dose of alcohol. A deep roasted bitter chocolate with some fruit notes. A burnt finish with bitter and alcohol notes. Body is pretty standard for the style. I often forget that Stoudts makes some really good beers. rustychiles (1068), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Pours a deep dark brown to black with a very small light brown head. Aroma of malt, lots of chocolate, coffee. I was surprised by the taste of fruit and sweetness in this one. Also you can taste chocolate...and as it warms a hint of coffee becomes more apparent. Yum! beergeek86 (33), Clarksville, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 18, 2008 feb 08. pours very dark brown, small tan head. aroma - roasted coffee, oatmeal, smells heavenly. very full flavor - medium body. roasted coffee and more coffee!!! semi sweet chocolate - oatmeal, hints of raisins. nice sublte yet intentional hoppy finish to balance the sweetness and keep it interesting. pretty rich and sweet to drink a lot of these, but it was very enjoyable and i would love to drink it again - still have a few bottles left :]. great on its own to relax or a good substitution for dessert. this beer made me very happy. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Nov. 2006 - Dark brown pour, decent head and ok lacing. Very strong aroma of roast and oatmeal...delicious smelling. Flavor was full, roasty goodness with a lot of sweet chocolate and oatmeal with some alcohol sweetness present. The only knock is that the beer is too sweet just a bit. Definitely one to try again. Skeegle (499), Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 10, 2008 I drank billions of bottles of this stuff when I first started tasting quality brews and it still is one of my go to beers. The oatmeal really has a sweetness to the character of this beer. It has a great smell of roasty toasty oats, almost like sweetened choco cereal. Great stuff, I love this beer. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA

Aroma of oats, roasted malt, and coffee. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium smooth mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
