Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

bottle. pours average stout black with little to no head. very sweet malty aromas... medium body, very low carbonation. Malts, caramel and slight oatmeal tastes. This kind of reminds me more of a brown ale than an imperial stout... very sweet. Very drinkable - the 9% abv is very well hidden so watch out.

Pours a pitch black and a monster dark tan head off a pretty firm pour. Nose is like cocoa powder. Flavor starts off promising but kind of falls off fairly quickly, leaving a noticable alcohol aftertaste. There is a nice coffee and malt and chocolate flavor in there, but the feel of everything just knocks it down a notch I say. Just too thin, or maybe it is just that it is thinner than the others I have tried. There is also an odd saltiness to it I think. Drinkable, sure. But as far as how it compares to others, I think it falls a bit short.

Dark color. Smell of malt, caramel, chocolate, hops, alcohol and a hint of coffee. Taste of malt, hops, chocolate, alcohol, caramel, bread, coffee and prunes/berries. Thanks to brewblackhole.

Pours darke brown, Decent sized light brown head. Aroma is lots of alcohol -- dark chocolate -- some wheat. Flavor is slick and oily, taste the alcohol (but not overly so for 9%) and chocolate flavors, roasted and full bodied.

bottled 5/16/07. Tiny flat oily head. Roasted aroma, with some vanilla, matls, oats, grass. Very easy imperial stout, nice oaty finish. Alcahol is well masked considering just how easy the palate is. Smooth and easy!

12 oz bottle-Pours almost black w/a slight red tint. Deep roasted malt aroma. Smooth, creamy flavor of oatmeal, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, cherry, chicory, & licorice. Easy drinking brew. Very tastey w/a long complex flavor & great mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden, had no idea it was this high based on the flavor, although the effects were telling me it probibly was!

From bottle : Pours a deep rich brown, with a finger wide beige head that disapates over a couple minutes. Very nice aroma of oatmeal, roasty malts, and a trace of alcohol. Thick mouthful on the palate of creamy goodness. Flavor of oatmeal, roasted nuts, and a little alcohol. Smooth and yummy, i like.
