Pours a crude pitch black with a small deep beige head, nice lacing throughout an entire snifter. Impressive aroma of espresso, sweet molasses and hops. Each sip has a great beginning flavor, with big nose of dark chocolate and currants, but the ending is a bit sour for my liking, too acidic. Nice mouthfeel, coats the back of the tongue but not much linger. A nice imperial, could be better without the sourness. GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 28, 2007 This was one seriously tasty beer. It carried enough complexity in the aroma and taste to keep you coming back for more. Aroma was old coffee, molasses, roasted malt with an underlying vinous quality that I found very intriguing. Appearance was jet black, but the head was a little...undersized for my liking. Mouthfeel was thick and coating. Flavor was molasses, molasses and more molasses. One of the most molasses tasting beers I think I’ve ever had. Roasted malts, coffee, burned brown sugar and anise round out the rest of the flavors. Awesome beer and one that I can highly recommend. sunevdj (1775), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2007 Updated: May 31, 2007Poured an oily slick black color with a two finger tan head. The aroma was of coffee, malts, and little chocolate. It was medium bodied with a smooth texture that went down easy and left some lacing. The coffee and dry roasted malts really come through in the taste. The finish was smooth, but a little dry tasting. An easy drinking stout. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2007 Oily black with a creamy tan head. Big choclate aroma with a touch of alcohol. Nice and oily texture with a light resiny finish. A touch of anise in the flavour and a little rootbeer. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2007 Updated: May 13, 2007Glassy black pour with a thin consistency, comparitively. Rich fudge and banana aroma. A cheap bourbon smell dominates, and booze hits the tongue hard. Muted raisin, chocolate soda fountain, licorice, all soaked in vodka, strangely. A soapy espresso bite in the aftertaste. Waxpaper palate. Strong, sweet, and kind of adolescent, but nice. Thanks Jason! crazyvin (1252), New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 6, 2007 interesting, poured a nice deep black hue, with a thin head. Seemed to have no carbonation to it at all. A really nice aroma with nice coffee and cocoa notes and an almost vinous fruit note in the back ground. Flavor was a sweet mix of chocolate and some bitter almost espresso coffee like quality. Good imperial stout but i hvae had better. This one was very light on the palate and seemed watered down at times.
