Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

From mcbackus via trade. Thanks again Matt! The pour was super dark, flat brown with virtually no ruby in it at all. The head was one-finger tall and receded quickly, leaving only slight amounts of lacing. A super nice chocolate aroma comes at you first with roasted coffee and malt. The flavor is chocolate with some faint hops and licorice. Not the most luxurious mouthfeel I’ve ever had from an IS, but a solid beer.

Bottle. 12 FL. OZ. Bottled 3/14/07. Pitch black color with dark tan head. Mild, malty, aroma with notes of dark chocolate. Fantastic creamy, silky, palate with the perfect amount of carbonation. Flavor is sweet at first with a nice, bitter finish. This beer goes down so easy.

Poured from bottle. Dark brown, with nice tan color head that faded rather quickly...Smelled of sour coffee...Slight carbonation made my first sip a bit odd...Yet strangely good...Taste of chocolate and coffee, and maybe a hint of vanilla?? Not too sweet, not too bitter...I liked this beer greatly!

Bottle: pours black with minimal head that quickly disappears. Aroma has light coffee and bitter chocolate notes. Flavor is initially sweet like very dark chocolate, and finishes with a savory bitterness. Some smoky hints as well. Not a bad brew.

12 oz. bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium brown head that lasted through most of the glass. Very pleasant aroma of coffee and roasted malt. The flavor is also roasted malt with coffee up front. This is followed by some slight sweetness from the oatmeal, which I enjoyed. The alcohol is very well hidden wth no burn whatsoever. Overall, very nice.

Pours a thick tan haed which stands up. Roasty malt in the nose, silky mouthfeel, alcohol in back of the sweet malt. A fantastic stout.
