Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

Aroma smells like I have a bowl of oatmeal and a glass of ovaltine under my nose. You can smell a certain richness in it. Plenty of chocolately smooth flavoer in taste, I can totally seen the designation of Imperial on this, full bodied, finishes with a bitter chocolate dryness.Should have bought more of this when I had the chance

Draft from Mellow Mushroom Citrus Park. Black/dark brown body, nice sized brownish tan head. Chocolate, malts, oatmeal aroma. The smell is fantastic overall. Nice mouthfeel. Palate is full oatmeal and chocoalte, some malt. Finish is oatmeal, coffee, chocolate, bitter hops. Warming and fulfilling. Absolutely one of my favorite beers that I have sampled so far.

bottle- pours deep brown to black with a small tan head. smells absolutely wonderful, a deep chocolatey aroma, mixed with fruits, rolled oats, it smells almost like chocolate chip cookies. nice thick and chewey. chocolate malts, coffee, some smoked wood, it is nice and bitter almost like a cup of coffee. there is no hint of 9% alcohol. by far the best oatmeal stout ive had.

This completes my conquering of the Fat Dog Triumvirate and is rating #666! Chocolate oatmeal aroma comes from a black body with a nice brown head. The palate is creamy and thicker than most oatmeal stouts I’ve had. Creamy faint chocolate flavors over toasted oats. This is better than I expected.

2k4 12 oz bottle: (via trade with jasonp)I wanted to wait longer to let this one mature, but what the hell. I’m feeling froggy tonight. Absolutely wonderful full scent. Deep dark chocolate, some wood undertones, a crisp caramel scent, huge malt notes, and finally this stuff smells like heaven. Poured a pitch black with a big foamy tan head that diminished slowly over time. Flavor is big on malts, creamy, milky, light coffee, dark chocolate, and a nit of smoke. Palate is long lasting, bitter, and somewhat sweet to the lips. Overall, Damn I’’m glad Jasonp gave me this brew. I can get this in my area, but the 2004 version is delicious. Thanks you again Jason!!!

Bottle. Pitch black with thick dirty brown head. Sweet berry aroma instead of the expected coffee and chocolate. Creamy and oily pallete, there is a bunch of flavour on your tounge yet its bubbly. Roasted malts, oatmeal and cirtris berry taste. Super hearty bevearge. One of the best Imperials I have tried. Worthy of the Czars and strong enough to warm anyone.
