Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

Bottle. Pitch black with thick dirty brown head. Sweet berry aroma instead of the expected coffee and chocolate. Creamy and oily pallete, there is a bunch of flavour on your tounge yet its bubbly. Roasted malts, oatmeal and cirtris berry taste. Super hearty bevearge. One of the best Imperials I have tried. Worthy of the Czars and strong enough to warm anyone.

Not the best Imperial Stout out there, but worth buying. Smell of chocolate when you first pour it into a glass and pretty smooth with it’s 9%.

probably my favorite from stoudt’s. good stout with some choc taste, not the strongest or most flavorful stout, bell’s still does it better.

Pours black with a nice brown head. Smell of chocolate and malt, not too strong. Taste is also chocolately and malty but a little watery for an imperial. Not bad but I probably wouldn’t get this over any other imperial.

12oz bottle-pours a tan head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate/licorice, oatmeal, acidic. Taste is dark malt-chocolate/licorice, oatmeal, hops bitterness/acidic. (maybe makes this an imperial porter?) Nice, Occasional.

2006 xmas gift from Amy! 12 oz bottle bottled on 1/25/06. almost a year old and the label even boasts bottle conditioning and yet i see no sediment at the bottom. hmmm. anyway....very black with brown edges. nice disappearing brown head. coca coffee aroma. big aroma but soft and balanced. nice. big balanced bittersweet cocoa coffee flavor with a nice milky oatmeal softness to it. bitter creamy sweet medium dry mocha finish with a nice dry bitter hoppy/coffee kick at the end. nice hop presence throughout. full thick rich mouth feel. very nice beer. this would be fantastic with some coffee ice cream.

An excellent beer that really shows off the complexity of a stout beer! The aroma is deep and thick.
