Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

A stout as big as the dog on the front. I don’t know who’s dog that is but I’d love to scratch him behind his lil’ ear for being a part of a great beer like this. The aroma was of roasted malt and coffee. The pour looks like what came out of the ground when ol’ Jed was shootin’ at some food. Dark black and thick with a small tan head. The taste is huge. Roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and some coffee round out this outstanding stout. Great Stout, Stoudt!

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=1 target=blank>Degarth, thanks Joe!, cellared for 7 mos. after trade) Grapes and chocolate...Pours very, very dark coffee brown, virtually black, appears opaque. One finger of tan head that recedes to a thin layer that stays. Aroma is first grapey, then dark chocolate, followed by some roasted coffee and maybe some cherry. Mouthfeel is medium full, pretty smooth but a bit fizzy. Thin rings of fine webby lacing. Flavor is grapes followed by dark chocolate with some coffee and maybe a hint of cherry in the background. Some lingering dark chocolate and coffee aftertaste. Thought the palate may be a little lacking for the style but nice aroma and flavor.

Pours nearly black with a small light brown head. Sweet caramel malt flavor, with chocolate and a hint of coffee. A smooth oatmeal stout, medium body, the alcohol is present but not extremely noticable for a 9%.A great beer.

Black with no head. Roasted aroma with notes of acetone, coffee, molasses and alcohol. Sweet flavor with notes of chocolate, fruits, alcohol and fudge. Quite bold bitterness.

12oz - Brewed March 03, 2006 - Aroma is pungent vanilla, soy sauce, dark chocolate, roasted dark malts, oats and alcohol. Pours black with a small brown head and good lacing. Flavor matches with a creamy oat finish. Alcohol hidden well. Palate is creamy and sticky at the end. A great tasty stout.
