Aroma is... pears. Yup. Some green walnut, mulberry, light-to-moderate maltiness, clean. Moderate-to-heavily sweet of dark fruits, some coffee and light bitterness coming out in the end. Medium-to-full bodied, smooth texture. I could barely discern any alcohol at all. Nine percent? I couldn’t tell. Good one. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Bottle. Black. A caramel and chocolate sweetness is instantly noticed. Finish is roasty, and lightly bitter, but it is still sweet. Some slight tar/charcoal in the finish, but it remains sweet throughout, probably a touch too sweet for me. Poured a dark black with a light tan head. Roasty aroma of chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and alcohol. Strong flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel, juicy dark fruit, and an alcohol bite. Very good, almost reminds me of a very chocolatey Old Stock. agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Dark black body with a light tan head. Sweet oaty aroma, light roasted malts. Good roasted malts and oats. Hops are present along with a light ground coffee bitterness. Warm and slightly harsh ending that could be a bit smoother. kramer (2495), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2006 12 oz bottle, via puzzl. Pours a very dark black colored body under a fizzy dark brown head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is very chocolaty with some roast and burnt malt. A light dry hoppiness, some espresso and chalk as well. Flavor is full bodied with a good amount of burnt malt and chalky dryness. Lesser notes of bitter dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is very oily and thick without being too cloying. Nice soft carbonation keeps things interesting. Overall, a nice flavorful Stout that had a great mouthfeel and aroma. Alcohol is very well hidden also for being 9%. ehhdayton (1115), USA
