It’s got a big bourbon baked oatmeal cookie malt aroma - rather appetizing. Blackish bee that looks so nice in my duvel glass, with that thin, diminishing creamy light brown bubble lining. It’s damn delicious, delivering that oatmeal cookie dunked in hot chocolate and then coffee, with some ginger snap crumbs from being in a mixed cookie box. That means there are some nice spices in there, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger. It’s got a creamy texture that first leaves a ice bitter hope and then subsides into a rich coffee finish. Quite simply a splendid beer. lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Pours a completely opaque black with a good sized creamy tan head that left a little lacing as it faded. Aroma as a whole is somewhat mild but enjoyable... mainly dark chocolate. The flavor is nice and balanced starting off with the chocolate and the roasted malts and some coffee showing up in the finish. Good full body really coats the mouth. Not the most complex but a very enjoyable imperial stout. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Nice dark pour, with tan head. Grainy-malt aroma. Sweet upfront with a nice tingle and a pleasant full-body finish. Rich-roasted oat taste with chocolate-coffee malt taste to go with it. Malty and well balanced. I definately enjoyed this one. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Updated: Apr 3, 2007March 2007. Bottle shared by Mabel. Black body, with a good sized creamy brown head. Moderate lacing. Aroma is moderately roasty with a fair amount of sweet milk chocolate/chocolate milk character. Very light note of alcohol if you are looking for it. Smooth creamy medium palate. Rich malt flavour with a light roast bitterness that escalates exponentially in the finish, light touch of hops and alcohol in the finish magnify the bitterness. Quite nice. 7/5/8+/4/15 - 3.9
<P>August 2006. Bottle from Premier Gourmet in Buffalo. Black body with a big tan head. Lightly sour roasty aroma, very muted dark chocolate. Prominent sourness in the flavour, fairly dry extremely light roast malt. Average palate. Very disappointing. The sourness seemed like it was on purpose, like a porter, rather than an infection or off, but no other ratings really seem to mention it either. 6/5/5/3/13 - 3.2 zebracakes (1216), Washington DC, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 3, 2006 Bottled. Almost pitch black on the pour. Strong roasted malt aroma with a bit of sweetness. Some chocolate and coffee as well. Smooth silky mouthfeel. Full flavored. Lots of roasted coffee and malts. Nice bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Warming as it goes down. Good impy. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Pours dark brown with dark tan head that disappeared almost immediatley. You can’t see through it even when holding it up to the light. Aroma was a HEAVY roasted oats and malt. Mouthfeel was full bodied with a smooth texture. BIG flavor of roasted cofee and oats. I detecteded a long lasting, slightly bitter aftertaste of malt, hops, more oats and dark unsweetened cooking chocolate. All in all - very tasty... but it’s not the best imperial stout that I’ve ever had the pleasure to taste. There was "something" missing.
