Glass:Krombacher snifter.
Appearance:Poured a black color that wasn’t quite opaque with a thin beige head.
Aroma:Funky vegetal aroma with notes of roasted malt and week old, stale coffee.
Flavor:Roasted malt, oatmeal and licorice.
Palate:Medium body with soft carbonation.
Overall:Way too thin to be a highly ranked imperial stout, and way too much licorice to be a stout that I enjoyed. I was highly disappointed by this offering, as I normally enjoy everything from Stoudts. This was extremely disappointing though.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2009 Dark, opaque pour. Looks black, but is really dark brown/reddish when held to the light. Not much of a head on my pour – what’s there is tan-colored. Tastes delicious. First flavor that comes through is roasty. Strong roasted flavors, background taste of bitter chocolate, maybe a little bit of coffee, but mostly roasted malts. Very good beer – I recommend it. scrizzz (1323), kirkland, Washington, USA

Black in color but lightens out with some red on the edes. Nose of mocha oatmeal. Not heavy handed in its coffee characteristics. Starts off very easy....picks up roastiness and dark flavors towards the finish. Nice effort Butters (1651), Virginia, USA
