| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Dark brown pour with one finger head, the color of creamed coffee. Aroma of roasted malt, figs, alcohol. Great flavor rich with roasted malt, a bit of sour fruit, and coffee. Sweet enough to not be bitter, but not so sweet as to be sweet. (Got that?) Crisp, well balanced aftertaste. Solid and active mouthfeel. A bit of an ethanol punch. Great stuff. Strykzone (1492), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 24, 2009 Thanks Daknole. Pours dark black with red highlights and a one finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and lactic. Chocolate notes with anise. Alcohol is noticed late in the aftertaste and provides warming. This beer is best when sipped followed by plenty of time for the aftertaste to wane. As good as the taste is the aftertaste offers lots to experience. The beer has a very rich feel with nice zing. This is a very well balanced beer with a lot to offer the palate and a few surprises. decaturstevo (2007), decatur, Tennessee, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours black with ruby highlights and a small, light tan head. Roasted malt, a little prune, molasses, and alcohol in the nose. The palate is boozy dark fruit, alcohol, ripe grape, jam, a little sugar, earth, and a slight vinous note. Medium-high carbonation with a medium, slightly dry mouthfeel. Medium-long finish with some lingering dry bitternees. A little on the raw side but big with fruit flavors. Lighter than most impys, hot with alcohol, and I didn’t get chocolate or coffee notes from this one. Tastes a little young now but could improve with age.
