Commercial Description:
This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

The pour is a dark brown with an average head. delicious aroma and flavor, that of coffee, chocolate, some mellow fruit notes, and the oatmeal, which is a nice touch. Overall impression is very good, I will be purchasing again.

12oz bottle from grape & gourmet. pours a slightly thin, dark chestnut brown, with a thin, whispy tan head. aroma is very nice with aromas of dark chocolate, roast coffee, dark fruits, soy sauce, and just a bit of caramel and oatmeal. flavor is delicious and slightly sweet with big dark chocolate and coffee, licorice, nutty oatmeal, vanilla, a nice bitter hop presence, and a touch of alcohol warmth. finish is hoppy initially but quickly transitions to a great roasted coffee and nutty flavor. mouthfeel is smooth and a bit thin for a big stout but certainly easy to drink. overall, a solid brew.

Enjoyed via 12oz bottle. Pours a jet black, with tan head. Nose of American hops, along with perhaps fresh-baked oatmeal cookies. Tends toward hops on the palate, but not so much so that the drinker can’t get some really nice notes of malt sweetness, along with a welcome oil, smooth character due to the addition of the flaked oats. A perfect accompanyment to a burger with fries (as I experienced), or perhaps with a New York style cheesecake.

Bottled. Pours out in a completeöy black colur with a a low pale brown head. Rich aroma of black coffee, molasses, sweet licorice and alcohol. Full-bodied with notes of black chocolate, sweet coffee, anise, burnt sugar and peppery alcohol. Long warming and rather sticky finish of coffee, chocolate-sauce and peppery warming alcohol

[Bottle] Pours dark brown with a small dark tan head. Aroma is quite sweet, with dark chocolate, roasted malt, alcohol and a strange saltiness. Taste is chocolate, a good deal of anise, some alcohol, and very restrained bitterness. A little thin, but smooth with a long roasted malt finish. "Assertive hoppiness" is a bit of a stretch in the description, but overall this is a good stout that is very drinkable.

Thank you SoLan. Pours a nice mohagony with a light brown head. Aroma is strong coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor is also chocolate and coffee with a pleasant sweetness that ties it all together. Some faint wood and alcohol in there too. Finish is long and a touch of bitterness comes through. Nice.
