Commercial Description:
The darkest of the beers we make, this imperial-style stout has a full body, a rich hearty dark-chocolate taste and a coffee-like finish. Its surprisingly smooth drinkability is enhanced by the careful blending of the finest English Kent Golding and Fuggle hops.

Aroma is hoppy, slightly fruity, and alcoholic [word illegible]. Appearance is dark dark brown with medium quickly dissapating head. Flavor is somewhat sweet up front with a deep roasted malt finish. Mouthfeel is good - not overly carbonated with a smooth finish. Had this one at the Southern Ratebeer Gathering in Austin, TX on December 6, 2003.

Big beige head, not completely opaque with a reddishness suggesting about 85% opacity. Good aroma--fruity and roasted. The palate is a bit soft with a lactic and roasted finish. Some light edges, diffuse flavors. (Sampled at Southern Ratebeer Gathering, Austin, TX, December 6, 2003)

Nice creamy head which dissipates slowly. Strong malty, sweet aroma with a little roasted grain and some other strange aroma. Color is a nice port/black. Flavor is sweet and not that strong. More roasted malts and not a lot of character. Don't detect the chocolate that they claim. Not much alcohol presence which you would expect from and imperial stout. Finish is smooth and pleasant with a slight coffee taste. A decent stout but much more like a sweet stout than an imperial stout. A "light" stout for those who don't like the big, thick, heavy stouts.

Seemed a bit anemic to me. Thin on the palate and no discernable alcohol on the finish. Not bad but certainly not great.

Aroma is wonderful, but the taste doesn't appeal that much. For an "Imperial Stout" it seems awefully weak, and lacking characteristics. Plus, I want my imp. stouts to be more than 6%.

I like the silent "d" in the brewery's name. Nice bready aroma, roasted. I dont see how this gets an "imperial" label....it was too thin to be classified as such in my opinion. The flavor was sweet and crisp with a dry, hoppy finish, but it needed some more roasted fruitiness and alcohol.....it would be very good for a dry stout, but it is very average for an imperial.

Deep, rich, full aroma of chocolate and roasted nuts. Appearance is deep, dark brown. Flavor doesn't quite live up to the aroma, having elements mostly of chocolate. Tasty.
